Subject: Motions for 2018 TCRI AGM to be held 03/10/2018
To: Brian Hennessy

Hi Brian, Ian and Shane,

I am aware that you are holding your AGM this afternoon and thought you might like to know that Burnside Park Tennis Club has formally requested that the following two motions be put to the TCRI AGM on 03/10/2018;

First motion ( a correcting motion):
“That the affiliation fees set for the 2016-2017 season set at the 2016 TCRI AGM be struck out and replaced retrospectively with the following fees:

$45.94 Town Senior
$31.55 Country Senior
$37.49 Town Junior 12-18
$32.83 Country Junior 12-18
$20.18 Town Junior 11 and under
$15.53 Country Junior 11 and under

these being inclusive of fees, charges, and taxes including TNZ affiliation fees.”

Second motion
“That affiliation fees be set at the following rates for the year from 01 July 2018 to 30 June 2019;

For Band one, from 0 to 25 Members inclusive, no fee, and thereafter, for each subsequent complete band of 25 members, an additional fee of $612.50.

And, that these fees are inclusive of GST and any TNZ affiliation fees payable.”

Much of the "rationales and explanations” in support of the second motion is provided at www.lovetennis.co.nz and will be updated further by 03/09/2018 and furthermore you can anticipate a direct communication from Burnside Park’s Club Delegate Tony Simons in due course.

On Thursday, at Guy Armstrong’s request, I prepared and forwarded Adam Gardner the attachments which amalgamate Hagely and Te Kura memberships.

From these schedules you will easily recognise how disadvantaged your club is under the current 6 Band Affiliation Fee model e.g. with 149 members Opawa is in Band 2, as is Bishopdale with their 232 members and yet both Clubs pay the same amount of $4,000.00 each in affiliation fees resulting in Opawa paying $26.84 per member while Bishopdale only pays $17.24 per member. Moreover Opawa only receives 5 votes while Bishopdale receives 9 votes. There are many other examples of why "6 bands" is bad and why "Vote Bands” is a far better affiliation fee model to approve for the 2018-19 season.

Specifically Opawa will be $1,550.00 p.a. better off under the "Vote Band” Model and Burnside Park will be $287.50 worse off. Delaying a better model only extends the unfairness of the current 6 Band Model.

With the adoption of the Vote Band Affiliation Fee Model on the 3rd of October 2018 all Clubs and Sub Associations in the Tennis Canterbury Region will be paying affiliation fees, under a fair and equitable collection method, and on exactly the same basis as well as receiving votes on exactly the same basis.

I thank you for considering this communication and would be very grateful for your support for the “Vote Band” model. If you would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact Tony Simons or me.

Best wishes for your AGM.

Kind regards,

Bruce McDowell
